Dr. Abdul Basit

Assistant Professor

Introduction

Dr. Abdul Basit has completed Ph.D. degree in subject of Microbiology in the year 2019 from China Agricultural University, Beijing China. In the year 2014 thru 2019, he was selected for Ph.D. on Chinese Government Scholarship and the program entailed one-year Chinese language too. He has the honor to have qualified the Chinese proficient test (HSK-level 4) well on time.
Dr. Basit Ph.D. research work was comprised of Applied Microbiology. It was focused on the cloning of hemicellulose degrading genes from thermophilic fungus Myceliophthora thermophila and expressed in methylotrophic yeast Pichia pastoris. Based on his work excellence, he was conferred on with the “Excellent Research” awarded by China Agricultural University.
Dr. Basit has done M. Phil and Bs (Hons) in Microbiology from Kohat University of Science and Technology. His M. Phil and BS (Hons) research pertained to the prevalence and control of zoonotic diseases (Brucellulosis and Bovine Tuberculosis). He also worked in the provincial project of “Molecular characterization of brucella sp. prevalent in cattle, buffalo, sheep, goat and human being in Khyber PakhtunKhwa”, at Veterinary Research Institute (VRI), Peshawar Khyber PakhtunKhwa. Dr. Basit has served as IPFP Fellow in the Department of Microbiology and Molecular Genetics, University of Okara from September 2020 to September 2021. He has completed a research project “Start-up Research Grant Program (SRGP)” funded by NAHE, HEC. Dr. Basit is author of scientific publications including review articles in well reputed journals as well. Besides, he is author of book chapters in internationally published books. Dr. Basit has achieved the status of Associate Fellow from the Higher Education Academy, UK.
