Introduction

Discipline of Biochemistry in Universty of Jhang is started on October 2021 under the brave and dynamic leadership of Professor Dr. Shahid Munir. The Department of Biochemistry at University of Jhang has been committed to maintaining a synergetic relationship between teaching and scientific research. It is worth mentioning that the Department of Biochemistry has its own new vast building, equipped with all necessary facilities, furnished and well equipped class rooms and labs (Laboratory collaboration with CVAS), young, energetic and supportive faculty which will provide a platform for students in District Jhang to learn and understand working practices. The four-year BS (H) program has been developed under the guidance of the Higher Education Commission of Pakistan to cover all areas of the newest biochemistry.

Since the department is established, it is getting stronger with the introduction of new program and advance courses. Science at the intersection of biology and chemistry is more exciting than ever and has escorted in a new era of life sciences. As understanding of living organisms continues to increase, from basic cellular mechanisms to more complex ecosystems, life scientists are searching for answers to important questions, including the prevention and treatment of deadly diseases. We hope that students will get the interdisciplinary education in biochemistry, cellular and molecular biology required for successful careers in science, industry, and academia. Vision:

Vision of Department of Biochemistry is to prompt the advance knowledge of Biochemistry, and to introduce modern teaching and scientific approaches in learning process, so that the graduates of university of Jhang can lead on national and international level in this advance discipline.

Mission:

The department pursues a central goal in modern biology for complete understanding of the structure and dynamic chemistry of the potential molecular components of cells that is a fundamental feature of biochemistry using molecular methods and biochemical techniques to explain biological processes. The focus of the research is towards biochemistry, clinical biochemistry, molecular biochemistry, proteomics, biotechnology, cell biophysics, genomics, structural biology, biochemical pharmacology, bioinformatics, and nutritional biochemistry.
